The GLAMi Awards, which recognize the most innovative digital projects in the cultural heritage sector, are returning in 2023 after a one-year hiatus. GLAMi chairs Susan Chun and Bruce Wyman are asking for your participation in the judging process. In keeping with our goals of diversifying the jury pool, broadening participation, and providing more emerging professionals with an opportunity to help recognize the best work in our field, we made changes in 2021 to the jury model to ensure that the GLAMi juries—at all levels—are regularly refreshed with new participants. We were delighted with the response from the community: for the 2021 GLAMis, we welcomed pool jurors from 20 countries, representing museums, archives, libraries, the vendors that serve them and the scholars that study them. Each pool juror reviewed up to 10 projects in their assigned categories against brand-new scoring rubrics developed by the GLAMi’s category chairs.
This year, the awards will be presented later than usual to give both nominees and jurors additional time to prepare. Nominations for the awards will open in early March and the awards ceremony—a virtual event open to the whole community—will be held this summer. We are currently seeking applications for pool jurors, whose review work on nominated sites and projects will begin this year at the end of April and be complete by the end of May.
Pool jurors will review all nominated sites and projects and score and comment on them. These reviews will be aggregated to produce a finalist group, which will be considered by a small category jury of distinguished professionals. The number of finalists in each group may vary depending on the number of applications in each category. Pool jurors are assigned to categories based on their experience and interests and can generally expect to serve for 2-3 years. Emerging professionals are encouraged to apply!
The application process is simple–use this form, which should take no more than 5 minutes to complete. You can also contact the GLAMi Chairs with any questions by sending a note to glami@museweb.net. You can also use this address to nominate others who you think would be willing and able to serve by providing their names and, if possible, email addresses. We hope you’ll join us!
Please complete your application as soon as possible but by June 2 at the latest. We will review applications on a rolling basis and notify you as soon as possible if you have been selected.
