Nominations for the 2023 GLAMis are open!
Head to the GLAMi 2023 Submissions page for information on how to nominate a project.
MuseWeb and the GLAMi team are excited to announce that the GLAMi Awards—which recognize excellence in digital projects from the galleries, libraries, archives, and museum community—will return in 2023 after a one-year hiatus.
We’re changing things up a bit this year. The awards ceremony, as well as the judging process and deadlines for nominations, will happen later this spring and summer, on a different schedule from the MuseWeb conference. It has been a long break for everyone in the field and we want to provide organizations with additional time to prepare their nomination materials and to allow jurors and category chairs—many of whom are busy with other conference responsibilities—a little breathing room.
Nominations – New Deadline – June 9! Applications to participate in the GLAMi process as pool jurors will open and close on the same schedule. The awards ceremony, which will be virtual and free to attend, will take place at the end of June. We have eliminated the strict “launch date” rule for eligibility and welcome any projects that have been in active use by a cultural institution during the past few years—the judges feel that doing so is truer to the spirit of good digital work, which can sometimes take time and iterations to become its most useful, or which may adapt to changing audiences and circumstances in informative and surprising ways.
In the weeks to come, we’ll be publishing more information about the GLAMi process, the category chairs, and some of the modifications that we have made to the program in recent years. Our goal has been to create a more inclusive and transparent program, one that finds and celebrates work produced by organizations of all sizes and types, that celebrates innovation and acknowledges risk-taking, and that shares applicable lessons learned by GLAMi-recognized projects with the whole community.
We hope you’ll join us in this undertaking, as a juror, a nominee, or just as someone interested in learning about the best work of our community. Please reach out to us if you have any questions to ask or ideas to share. You can reach the 2023 GLAMi Co-Chairs at glami@museweb.net.
